September 24, 2021, Letter to Family and Friends

We cannot stress enough the importance of vaccinations to curb the spread of COVID-19’s Delta variant. They are a matter of safety as well as compliance with the federal government’s plan to mandate vaccines for health care workers at Medicare and Medicaid facilities.

Nationwide, the median nursing home staff vaccination rate has hovered at around 64%, according to recent federal statistics.

About 84% of residents are vaccinated. Web users may search for vaccination rates at nursing homes near them on CMS’s Care Compare site through Medicare.gov. The Jewish Home consistently reports required COVID data.  Data for the new startup of this reporting element was off by one day related to the CMS pulling date of September 5 and our submission on September 6, due to the Labor Day holiday. This is why you will not see our data on this website until it is pulled again by CMS in two weeks.

As of September 23, 2021, our vaccination rates for our active residents is 93% and staff is 90.6%, for a total of 91.6% of our facility fully vaccinated. We have eight additional staff who have consented to or already have their first series of the vaccine that are not included in our completion stats.

Our non-vaccinated staff were last tested on September 22, 2021, and all are negative.  We will be starting twice weekly testing for non-vaccinated staff the week of September 27, 2021.

Booster shots are the next step in the continuing COVID battle and are currently awaiting final authorization from the CDC. Use these links to learn about vaccines near you and the CDC’s fact sheet.

Learn more about vaccine facts vs. myths with a downloadable PDF, blog and video blog, which are linked from our website’s COVID-19 page.

Visitations are being monitored and controlled based on the CDC’s county view data tracker.
