March 4, 2022, Letter to Family and Friends

Our main priority continues to be the protection of our residents, staff and families at our facility. We are monitoring COVID-19 data and its impact.

Our resident units are now in green status with the exception of our regular isolation yellow zone on the 4th floor used for new admissions and hospital returns.    It is very important that all visitors adhere to our Visitation Guidelines on our website.

Masking requirements are still in place for the time being as we await updated guidance. The visitors masks must remain in place at all times while in the home. The CDC has eased masking recommendations for indoor public settings in counties with low and medium levels of COVID-19, but the agency has not updated that requirement for long-term care facilities. Just a reminder that our visitation guidelines continue to be 2 visitors visiting in resident rooms only, not in common or public areas on the resident units. Residents may have up to 4 visitors on the first floor of the home.

Our top priority is to protect the residents, staff and families. We encourage and recommend booster shots as a primary way to safeguard residents and staff against the COVID-19 Omicron variant. For information about vaccination rates at nursing homes, please refer to CMS’s Care Compare site through Medicare.govLearn about vaccines near you and the CDC’s fact sheet.

As of March 3, 2022, 96.1% of our residents have been fully vaccinated and 95% have received booster shots. Our staff is 100% vaccinated and 85% of those eligible have received a booster.  Overall, our facility staff and residents are 98.5% fully vaccinated and 88.9% of those eligible have received a booster.

Other Facility News: Plans for March Madness are in the works!!!  Our Life Enrichment department, staff and residents have planned theme days for fun events and attire. March Madness will be happening from March 7- 20.  Please review the attached schedule to see what is planned.  Our staff love to assist the residents who want to participate with selecting items from their wardrobes to fit the theme, or in some cases adding an accessory.   We are putting this out ahead of time so family members know what is coming and can talk with your loved ones and discuss in advance what they may want family to bring in for them to wear on any of the special days. If any particular theme day appeals to you, join in and wear something in the theme if you are coming to see your loved one.  While COVID guidelines do limit our ability to have interaction with families in these types of group events in our common areas, this is a way for you to join in, if you would like to participate.

Thank you again for entrusting us with the care of your loved ones. If you have any questions, we are always available for you.

Sincerely,

Mary Rose Applegate, MBA, RD, NHA
