These have been particularly difficult weeks, even excruciating for many of us, as we’ve lost precious residents to COVID-19 and other end of life issues while others are fighting this insidious virus, all while our devoted staff is working round the clock to maintain the health of our residents, themselves and their families.
To the families who have lost loved ones, we have no words. Our thoughts, our prayers, and our broken hearts are with you. Since the Jewish Home opened over 100 years ago, your family members have been ours as well, and we share your indescribable heartbreak.
For families who aren’t able to visit, we can only imagine how difficult it must be. We’re doing all we can to keep you connected to your loved ones via phone, Facetime, Skype and any other way we can. If you haven’t been able to connect with a family member, please reach out to Nicole Lipinski by phone at 570-344-6177 ext 1113, or via email, to nlipinski@jhep.org to set up a virtual visit.
On April 14, our communal suffering was made worse by a newspaper article that had information which was untrue. Not only are we keeping up with guidance from the Pa Department of Health and other government agencies, but the reality is that we were taking steps to prepare for COVID-19 before such guidelines were published. We notified the paper’s managing editor immediately, and we’ve already seen a minor correction in their online version.
I hope it goes without saying that the health and well-being of our residents is always paramount. Our staff continue to treat our residents like their own family members.
As this situation evolves, please know that we continue to follow government guidelines.
-
- We have Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are providing recommended safety equipment and supplies to our staff.
- We continue to screen staff as they enter the building to care for our residents.
- We continue to remind our residents and staff about hand-washing and safe social distancing.
As always, if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to our team. We are going through these unprecedented times together, and we appreciate your ongoing support as we navigate these unchartered waters.
