Life Enrichment Director

The Life Enrichment Director will provide for an ongoing program of life enrichment designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psycho-social well-being of each resident.  Life Enrichment programs are developed within the framework of the facility’s organizational structure in accordance with the State and Federal regulations and the approval of the resident’s attending physician.  The programs are coordinated in a team effort with related facility services and staff.  Programs are to include activities for ambulatory, non-ambulatory, and bed-fast residents, and the activities are to be planned for both group and individual participation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

Preferred Bachelor’s Degree with three years’ experience in a long term care setting or be registered to complete National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP) and complete within one year of hire.  The Life Enrichment Director must meet one of the following educational and/or experience qualifications:

  1. be a qualified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist who is:
  2. a) licensed or registered either nationally or by the state in which practicing; and
  3. b) eligible for certification as a Therapeutic Recreational Specialist by a recognized accrediting body on August 1, 1989.
  4. possess 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last a five (5) years, one of which was full-time in a resident activities program in a health care setting; or
  5. be a qualified Occupational Therapist or COTA or;
  6. successfully complete a training course approved by the State.
