Dear Family and Friends
We encourage vaccination against COVID-19 for residents, staff and the community in general in completing a drive for immunity. By getting a COVID-19 vaccine, you are protecting yourself, your children, parents, grandparents and other loved ones.
Vaccine development is moving fast because the medical and scientific community have made it their highest priority. The DOH explains family member eligibility, locations and scheduling: https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Vaccine/Pages/Vaccine.aspx
Learn more about the vaccine on our website’s COVID-19 page as well as updates, videos, links and frequently asked questions.
Testing – Residents on 3rd and 4th floors were tested for the second week and we are happy to report that all came back negative. Those units are back in green.
Our staff group continues to test weekly. Results for the week of February 22, 2021, were negative. Results on staff test from February 15, which were delayed by national weather issues, have started to come back. Unfortunately, we did have one asymptomatic staff test positive in the group of results returned. The staff member was on a resident unit with limited resident contact. DOH was contacted for guidance. We have tested all residents on the 2nd and 5th floor this morning. Results will be in on the weekend. This does impact our availability to open for visits inside the building. You will be contacted when we are able to open back up for regular visits.
Our Facility’s Resident Impact (Since March 30, 2020, through February 25, 2021)
0 – Residents currently in our building with a confirmed active case of COVID 19
56 – CONFIRMED: Residents with laboratory positive COVID-19
0 – SUSPECTED: Residents with new suspected COVID-19
52 – Confirmed Staff Total: with a positive COVID-19
- Please note that test results are reported on our daily call in line at 570-207-6711. Family members and all others impacted by the virus will be contacted directly and provided with results and updates.
Life Enrichment – Our Life Enrichment team is continuing to assist residents with virtual and regular phone calls to families. Maintaining this type of contact is very important to our residents and families and is an ongoing part of the activity programming for our residents. We do have IPads available and have added some additional portable phones for residents to use for telephone calls. Since many of our residents do need assistance with regular and virtual calls, we do ask that you schedule calls through our Sherri Collins our Life Enrichment Director. This allows us to have staff designated and available to help the resident make/receive the call. Sherri can be reached at 570-344-6177 ext. 1113 or scollins@jhep.org.
Thank you again for entrusting with the care of your loved ones. If you have any questions, we are always available for you.
Sincerely,
Mary Rose Applegate, MBA, RD, NHA
