The increasing county-wide COVID-19 positivity rate is deeply concerning for all nursing home providers. While, The Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania is fortunate that we do not have any positive resident cases at the current time, we have learned throughout this pandemic that, as the number of COVID-19 cases increases in the surrounding community, the risk of positive cases in nursing homes also increases.
We continue to focus daily on mitigation efforts, as directed by the CDC and PA DOH. We believe vaccination is paramount to reducing the impact of COVID, particularly to the vulnerable population we care for every day. 100% of our staff and 97% of our residents have been vaccinated against COVID-19. We wish to thank our staff, residents and family members for their overwhelming support of our vaccine clinics. It is a testament to the culture of caring at JHEP and I am extremely proud of our staff and their continuing extraordinary efforts to safeguard residents, families, and staff.
My heart is heavy as I share that we learned of the passing of a member of our JHEP staff family this week. Denise Skrzysowski, our Infection Preventionist, succumbed to her battle with COVID-19. Denise has been part of our nursing leadership team for the past 2 years and was instrumental in our COVID-19 mitigation and management efforts. Throughout the past 21 months, she worked tirelessly to guide our facility in protecting our residents, families, and staff. Many of you knew Denise through her phone calls and updates during the pandemic.
We are forever grateful to Denise for sharing her expertise, compassion, and humor with us. She was a beloved member of our team who will be sorely missed by our residents, families, and co-workers. She was a strong proponent of vaccines and boosters to help fight against COVID 19. Please continue to support her efforts with vaccinations and boosters.
I would also ask that you hold Denise’s family and our JHEP coworkers close in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this tremendous loss.
Our Visitation Guidelines are located in the COVID information page on our website.
