The Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania is keeping our residents safe as we continue the transition to the new normal. As always, we at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania thank you for entrusting us with caring for your loved ones. We strive daily to provide the very best in care.
Testing – While Lackawanna County’s COVID-19 continues to remain in the low Green Level, which is under 5%, we are on a monthly schedule for routine staff testing. Residents continued to be screened every shift and will be tested if symptomatic. Our next planned staff testing will be during the week of October 12, 2020. We are thankful that our building continues to be free of COVID-19. Please check our automated toll-free number: 570-207-6711. That number is updated daily with information about any new COVID-19 positives.
Patio Visits and Video Chats
Regulations and guidance change frequently. We are waiting for additional guidance on visitation updates from the CMS. When received, policies will be developed, reviewed with our team and then sent to families.
Starting this week, we have changes regarding appointments for video/FaceTime chats with families and friends. Sherri Collins, Life Enrichment Director, will make appointments for video chats. Sherri can be reached at 570-344-6177 ext. 113 or scollins@jhep.org.
The process for scheduling patio visits remains the same. Please contact Lee Rutkowski, our Nurse Marketer, at 570-344-6177 ext. 1175 or email at lrutkowski@jhep.org.
Life Enrichment. High Holidays continue next week. For residents who wish to participate in Yom Kippur services on Monday, we will be having modified services in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines in our chapel for small groups. While some of our traditional activities have been modified due to pandemic restrictions, we are still putting up our sukkah on part of the front patio with decorations made by our residents. For those of you who are new to the Jewish Home, a sukkah is a temporary hut-like structure constructed for the week–long festival of Sukkos. It is topped with corn stocks and decorated with autumn, harvest and Judaic themes. The sukkah will be put up midweek so that it is ready for the start of Sukkos holiday starting next Friday. When the sukkah is up, visitors will be entering the patio through the rear lobby of the building. Please park in the rear parking lot and enter through that entrance to screening/check in.
Please follow our Facebook page or our website https://jhep.org/events/ to keep up with the fun activities of the week.
Stay Safe and Healthy.
Sincerely,
Mary Rose Applegate, MBA, RD, NHA
