Friends and families,
Thank you for your continued support through the COVID-19 pandemic. Our guidance from state and federal governing bodies continues to change at a rapid pace. Many of the recent changes surround testing of our residents/staff and the impact on our reopening plan. Our main goals remain to provide high-quality care and to keep your loved ones safe.
On October 7, 2020, we received notification that a relief staff member who was in our building on Friday October 2, 2020, tested positive on a routine COVID 19 test this week. The individual continues to not have any symptoms and is in quarantine. This staff member came into contact with two residents. Both of these residents and one roommate have been put on isolation precautions and tested for COVID-19. All three do not have symptoms at this time.
Our Facility’s Resident Impact (Since March 30, 2020 through October 7, 2020):
Number of cases | |
0 | Residents currently in our building with a confirmed active case of COVID 19 |
54 | Total CONFIRMED: Residents with laboratory positive COVID-19 |
0 | SUSPECTED: Residents with new suspected COVID-19 |
29 | Confirmed Staff Total: with a positive COVID -19 |
We are continuing to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Department of Health guidelines with regard to infection control policies and procedures for prevention and mitigation of COVID-19. As a result of this positive staff test result we are going back to start of our reopening plan (step 0).
We will be going back to window visits in place of patio visits until we are able to reach the step 2 and 3 reopening plan. Our scheduling procedures are located on our website at jhep.org. Compassionate visits will be held in accordance with our reopening plan.
Our staff had been scheduled for our next monthly routine testing on Monday Octobers 12, 2020. Our schedule for routine resident and staff testing will change to weekly and will continue until we have 14 days with no positive results in either our staff or resident group and then we will be able to advance a level. We will also including in the test groups for both residents and staff those who have not tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days.
Please know that we encourage staff to maintain social distancing, use caution when attending gatherings, wear a mask and practice hand hygiene while at work and home. Thank you for entrusting us to care for your loved ones. We are hopeful that we will be able to return to Stage 3 of reopening plan quickly. If you have any questions we are always available for you.
Sincerely,
Mary Rose Applegate
